A summary of the 4th Green Med Forum in Tunis
The 4th Green Med Forum in Tunis started on September 28 in the afternoon, with the first B2B meetings that continued in parallel throughout the entire event, organized by our Tunis Bureau. Also in the afternoon of the 28 some seminars took place, in different rooms, sponsored by companies and institutions participating in the Forum. Concurrently it was held the Assembly of Assomedmarkets, the Mediterranean Association of Wholesale Markets Directors as well as bodies and institutions sharing the goal of making of Mediterranean markets centers for innovative services for the whole supply chain.
Like every year then the Green Med Forum was be officially opened by a Gala Dinner during which the Green Med Awards ceremony took place, presenting the prizes for the Best Grower (the producer who contributed to enhance the value of Mediterranean typical products through high quality levels), the Best Exporter (the company that distinguished itself for the great promotion of Mediterranean typical products worldwide) and the Best Service Provider.
Thursday 29 was be the Conference day. After a plenary session with European and Tunisian authorities and a report on the agricultural economy in the Mediterranean entrusted to CIHEAM, a session was devoted to fruit and vegetables' quality in the Mediterranean with a focus on the role of certification and the standards of retailers. In the afternoon two sessions followed, one focusing specifically on logistics, especially on Tunisia as logistics platform and bridge for Africa, the other tackling product integration and investment opportunities in Tunisia and other Countries of the southern coast.
On Friday 29 there was the possibility to visit local fruit and vegetable or olive oil farms after the B2B meetings agenda was be compled.
