This is why in 2004 the company won the "Grappolo d'Oro" Award as the best Italian exporter. The Rivoira Kiwi-Uno Group is awarded with the Green Med Best Exporter Award for being the pioneer in the export of apples and other Italian products in the Mediterranean region, thus overturning the belief that the interchange between North and South of the Mediterranean should only be characterized by the export of agricultural products from the South to the North and of technologies from the North to the South. Hence, the Rivoira Kiwi-Uno Group has first enhanced the Mediterranean as an open market, due to its efficiency and its technical and commercial knowledge.
- BEST SERVICE PROVIDER.Green Med Award 2009
MERCABARNA, SPAIN, (Photo: the DG Mrs. Montserrat Gil de Bernabé, in the middle) Motivation: Mercabarna (Mercados de Abastecimientos de Barcelona SA) is an example of efficiency and good organization among all the wholesale markets of the Mediterranean region. The market handles more than one million tonnes of fruits and vegetables per year and it covers a range of consumers that goes beyond the borders of Catalonia reaching the South of France and northern Italy. Mercabarna supplies fresh produce to 10 million people. Awarding a wholesale market with an exemplary management means to acknowledge the still important role played by agrifood centers for food security, transparency of business operations, for the determination of reference
prices, for the promotion of quality in the consumers’ respect. All these functions are performed in the best way by the Barcelona wholesale market.
